U.S. Medical Volunteers to Assist in Building Health Services Sector Capacity in Tanzania

Lenhardt (second from left, 1st row) and Peace Corps Country Director for Tanzania Elizabeth Omalley (left 2nd row) with a group of volunteer American health professionals who will provide medical and nursing training to Health Education Institutions in Tanzania under the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) supported Global Health Service Partnership (GHSP) initiative when they paid him a courtesy call at the State House in Dar es Salaam on July 23, 2013. GHSP volunteers with expertise and vast experiences in general medicine, women's health, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, anesthesiology, family medicine, cardiology, social sciences, nursing and midwifery will serve for one year as faculty members and service providers in Bugando Medical Centre - School of Nursing, Sengerema DDH/Teaching Hospital, Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), Mirembe School of Nursing , Mvumi DDH/Clinical Officers Training College, Baylor Pediatric Centre for Excellence in Mwanza and Mwananyamala/ICAP - TB, HIV and AIDS centre for Excellence.
