The 2013 Global Smart Partnership Dialogue was launched in spectacular fashion Friday in Dar es Salaam. The Smart 29ers got the Dialogue off to a great start, sharing their experiences, insights and visions with the Dialogue Host Patron, His Excellency Dr Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, alongside numerous Heads of State and a selection of CPTM Fellows. Over 800 people then filled the auditorium to hear Joint Dialogue Conveners Ambassador Ombeni Sefue and Dr Mihaela Smith set the tone for the coming days, celebrating the ability of Smart Partners' Dialogues to unite such a diverse and interesting range of people.
His Excellency Dr Kikwete proceeded to evoke the power that technology can have when leveraged effectively, improving people's lives and achieving socio-economic transformation.
His Excellency's speech was followed by the launch of the Technology Gallery and the CPTM Smart Partners' Hub at the Convention Centre with a video showcasing high impact technologies. The day's events were rounded off with a spectacular Opening Dinner at the Gymkhana Club grounds featuring music, dancing and speeches from His Excellency President Yoweri Kiguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Tanzania CPTM Fellow and Companion, Chair of the Smart Partnership Movement.
