Dear valuable customers, contractors and partners,
Dear Total colleagues from EACOP and Total Tanzania,
Editors and members of media
Distinguished Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen, Good evening,
Today we reflect on past accomplishments, and we proudly celebrate our 50 years journey in Tanzania, albeit with a lot of humility. It is the reason we are present here today, that you are present here tonight, please accept my most sincere and warmest gratitude.
For50 years and alongside many of you today present, we have maintained a strong will to take a seat at the table ofTanzania’s development, to meet our customers’ needs, and to be recognized as a partner of reference.
We have gone through the years confidently, leaning on some strong values, allow me to mention a few: safety, our core value, commitmentand transparency to act in a responsible manner to continuously improve ourselves on the path to innovation. Our aim has long been to strengthen our roots in the community, by training talented individuals for the country (and of course for the company and our customers too),by fostering innovative partnerships, by investing during difficulttimes because we never faltered in our belief that the strength of our relationship with the government authorities will be determined mostly by our perseverance and resilience in remaining loyal to our commitment to Tanzania initiated in 1969.
Honorable Prime Minister, If Tanzania is a major player in Africa’s development, it is also an important country for the Total Group. Over the past years Total has demonstrated its commitment by continuing to invest heavily in the country and the result is evidenced by our steady growth and diversification of our downstreamoperations and more specifically in the importation, marketing and distribution of petroleum products through its network of service stations and general trade.
Total has been an ample player and contributor to the upgrade of Petroleum industrial standards through collaboration with EWURA, Safety standards including those of Tanzania Bureau of Standards TBS and in the setting upof the Bulk procurement system currently known as the PBPA.
As part of its growth, expansion and commitment to fulfill its promise to participate and contribute to industrialization in Tanzania, “Tanzania yaViwanda”, and in a response to His Excellency President Magufuli call to business investment focus in Tanzania, Total is the leading partner in the East African Crude Oil Pipeline project EACOP. Total has also invested over Two Hundred Million USD, in the last three years, in particularthrough its recent acquisition of GAPCO Tanzania Limited that led to a triple in the size of its oil marketing and service networkreaching now 100 Petro-stations, the launch of a multi-million dollar blending plant, the introduction of Total Innovations and high-tech knowhow to Tanzania lubricants industry which will serve the country and East African region at large.
Total is committed to Tanzania and continues to share its global innovations with the Tanzanian Community, and this is testified through its fuel storage terminal upgrade to the highest standards of the industry worldwide and the introduction of Total Excellium high-tech premium fuel distributed in the Tanzanian market.

Thanks to you, the Total brand has established itself throughout the years as a reference, and Total Tanzania has strengthened its position as a distribution leader in this country.
Allow me to mention Mr. Desay Sanjib of our service station in Mbeya or Mr Karim Bhanji of Dodoma who have both been with us for many decades. Through these 2 examples, and many more I could list, it is a warm message of gratitude that I wish to pass along in my name and in the Total’s group’s name to all of our partners for their unwavering support throughout the years.
And of course, present here today are members of our incredible staff : you may not know them all but they are here, ever present, bending over backwards to ensure that operations run smoothly, that trucks arrive on time (mostly…), that shops are well stocked, that all our procedures and standards which are often self-imposed are respected. All the men and women of Total Tanzania deserve our warmest and most heartfelt thanks.
Once again, thank you for this beautiful journey shared together.
And this adventure is not over yet, Safari Inaendelea! In a growing economic environment and in a region where Tanzania plays a major role, we want to continue to play our part.
